Dear Friends,

I am proud to share with you this information about the great City of Los Angeles and its 25 Sister Cities around the globe.

About Sister Cities

President Dwight D. Eisenhower created the Sister Cities program in 1956 to build global cooperation, promote cultural understanding, and stimulate economic development among cities throughout the world. Information on Sister Cities International is available at

The Sister Cities of Los Angeles was founded three years later in 1959 with partnerships with Nagoya, Japan, and Eilat, Israel. Today, Sister Cities of Los Angeles promotes international relations, trade, cultural exchange, and peace with 25 Sister cities and three Friendship Cities on six continents.

Through a variety of programs, Sister Cities of Los Angeles, Inc. creates opportunities for the officials and citizens of the 25 cities to explore each city’s culture and economy and effect real change at municipal, educational, business, professional, and technical levels.

Building “People To People” Relationships is the foundation of every Sister Cities of Los Angeles program.

In 2010, a variety of meetings, conferences, lectures, and social events will enjoin representatives of the 25 Sister Cities of Los Angeles.

Special community programs encouraging the attendance and participation of non-members are also planned and listed on the Events page.
