LAEDC Korea Mission Trip Sep 17-21, 2011

KOTRA Los Angeles office supported LAEDC (Los Angeles county Economic Development Corporation)’s Korea Mission Trip from September 17 to September20, 2011. During the trip, KOTRA helped with 1:1 company meetings, hosted full-scale conference with reception and seminars. KOTRA and LAEDC also signed the first region-to-region memorandum of understanding (MOU). The agreed cooperation will help facilitate the promotion of international trade, direct foreign investment, and a 21st Century infrastructure in both regions.
Highlighting activities are as follow:
○ Signed MOU with KOTRA

○ Met with Samsung SDS and Samsung C&T who are interested in expanding their operations, and working on infrastructure and solar projects in Los Angeles

○ Met with the Chairman of Korean Air, Hanjin Group, and S-Oil to give thanks for their investment and offer assistance with their Wilshire Grand Hotel Project
○ Luncheon hosted by Dr. Bill Kim with national political leaders and CEOs from leading Korean companies
○ Met with Chairman Oh of Woongjin Energy and Woongjin Chemical (Former Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea) to expand their business into LA
○ Met with Hize Aero and Kumho Fiber to discuss HQ & assembly facilities in L.A. County
○ 97 business representatives attended investment conference, US Market Entry Strategy Conference, hosted by KOTRA
○ Resulted in 42 investment prospects
